Circling through the air surround,
Blazing everything to the ground,
Whipped up to a crescendo,
Until in a single moment, it’ll go.
An empty hush, breath baited,
The winds and fury, thirsts sated.
Soundless tears well, before being shed,
The healing beginning in his head.
Black dust gathered, ash piled high,
Flickering embers, reaching for the sky.
Faint echoes of hope, a memory saved,
Glories of the past, a life remembered.
Flash inferno, an almighty crack,
No second chances, no going back,
No great loss, no more need to mourn,
Life jump started, a phoenix reborn.

I felt the need to write something and thought that the mythical phoenix with its ability to be reborn from the ashes would make for a good metaphor for the past year for me
